About Shangpa Foundation

Shangpa Foundation was established on 7th Jan 1994 by Shangpa Rinpoche in Kathmandu, Nepal.

The main aim of this foundation is to preserve Buddhist traditions and heritages, provide relief work, assistance and aid to the poor in Nepal, with emphasis in medical and educational aides.
Inception
The Shangpa Foundation was established on 7 January 1994 in Kathmandu, Nepal, by Shangpa Rinpoche with the aspiration to preserve Buddhist traditions and heritage while serving communities in need through compassionate action.
Guided by the teachings of the Karma Kagyu lineage and inspired by the compassionate activities of the previous Shangpa Rinpoches, the Foundation supports humanitarian relief, education, healthcare, monastic development, and the preservation of authentic Buddhist culture and practice.
Vision
The Foundation was founded with the vision of benefiting society through both Dharma activities and social welfare initiatives. Its primary aims are:• To preserve and uphold Buddhist traditions, teachings, and sacred heritage• To support monasteries, monks, nuns, and Dharma practitioners• To provide relief and humanitarian assistance to disadvantaged communities• To promote access to medical aid and educational support in Nepal and beyond• To continue the compassionate activities of Shangpa Rinpoche for future generations
Through these efforts, the Foundation seeks to embody the union of wisdom and compassion in meaningful service to humanity.
