Stupa built by the previous Shangpa Rinpoche
I would like to share an update on the restoration of the ruined stupa in Salthang.
When I visited Salthang Gompa in Dolpo last year, I noticed a dilapidated stupa on the hillside just above the monastery. I was told that it had originally been built by my previous incarnation. Seeing its condition, I felt a strong wish to restore it while preserving its original design, traditional craftsmanship, and materials as closely as possible.
I am pleased to share that the restoration has now been completed. The project cost approximately NPR 3,000,000, and the stupa has been carefully reinstated with respect for its historical and spiritual significance.

Salthang Gompa
The locals and devotees of the past Shangpa Rinpoche are engaging in a profoundly meaningful and sacred project. They are helping me to restore the Stupa with Mani prayer wheel that were built by the past Shangpa Rinpoche. It is located at Salthang Gompa of Dolpo. This is not only a spiritual offering but also a vital act of cultural preservation in one of the most remote regions of Nepal. I received images and videos of the ongoing work from the devotees yesterday on 9 May 2025. May the work in the restoration and building of the stupa and Mani prayer wheels at Salthang Gompa be blessed with success, harmony and deep merit. This effort honors the legacy of the past Shangpa Rinpoche and brings immense benefit to all beings through the power of the Dharma. I deeply rejoice in everyone’s devotion and dedication – may every turn of the prayer wheel and every stone laid awaken the wisdom and compassion in all who encounters them.
